SANS SOUCI HOTEL
COMPLETION DATE: 2020
CLIENT: Netcare
Refurbishment and adaptive re-use of the listed Sans Souci Hotel building at Millpark Hospital. The main feature of the building is the original bar. Elements such as original lightfittings were retained and ships memorabilia were carefully restored. Care was taken to keep original parquet and oregan pine flooring. Where walls of the old hotel rooms were demolished, inlays of tiling were used to demarcate the position. The oregan pine rafters which had to be replaced were used for decorative elements. Glazing was introduced to bring in daylight in consulting rooms on first floor. The Sans Souci hotel sign was replicated as commemoration to its original use.
